Discussion Questions

  1. Re-read all of Luke 1 & 2. In light of Sunday’s sermon, what are you drawn to in this section of scripture? What questions do you have?

  2. Why do you suppose God chose such a quiet and strange way to enter into the world? Why did he not engage the political and social structures of his day?

  3. Have you ever considered the sacrifice inherent in the incarnation for Jesus? Using scripture, list out some of what Jesus sacrificed just to live among us as a human.

  4. 1 John 3:16 says: “16 This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” How does the sacrifice of Jesus define love for you? How does this definition contrast with the world’s definition of love?

  5. Love can be so easy to dismiss as cliche in our culture. What does it mean for you right now that Jesus loves you? How does his love impact your life right here and now? What might change in your life if you were to give to others the same kind of love Jesus gives you?

  6. What was God telling you this week? What have you done about it?
