Discussion Questions

  1. Re-read all of Luke 1. In light of Sunday’s sermon, what are you drawn to in this section of scripture? What questions do you have?

  2. Luke’s telling of the story sharply contrasts the priests doubt with the young woman’s faith. Biblically God continually chooses the unlikely of this world. List out some other biblical examples of God moving through unlikely means and people. What does this truth say about your own faith journey?

  3. Faith meant real and painful consequences for Mary, yet her yes was immediate. What might it cost you to give God your yes today? How does the sacrifice of Faith sit with you?

  4. Pastor Sam said that faith itself is a gift given by God. What does your own relationship with faith look like? Recall a time when God gave you faith to engage a circumstance or call in your life. Do you make a practice of asking God for faith?

  5. What blocks exist between you and faith? What might change in your life if you trusted God today?

  6. What was God telling you this week? What have you done about it?
