Why do you suppose the way Jesus describes his victory seems so different from how we usually think of it?
In Matthew 16:21, Jesus talks about His upcoming suffering and death as necessary. Why do you think He emphasizes that this? Couldn’t God work out his gospel plan anyway he wanted? Try and utilize specific scriptures in your answer.
What do you think it means to 'take up your cross' (Matthew 16:24) in our context now?
