Read all of Matthew 4. What Ideas stick out to you? What sorts of ideas have you historically associated with this text? What questions do you have?
Read 1 Corinthians 10:13. What are some of the practical and holy escapes God provides for your specific areas of temptation?
Jesus responded to each temptation with scripture. How does the word of God play into spiritual warfare? What could you change today to increase your use of scripture in the midst of your own temptation?
Pastor Sam said that often times Christians are tempted to blame all temptation and sin patterns on satan rather than our own sinful desires. Read James 1:13-15. How might acknowledging and understanding your own sin nature actually change your battle with temptation?
Consider what areas of temptation are most common for you. Take a minute to write these out. Do you see any common threads? What idols do these temptations point to?
What was God telling you this week? How about over this whole series? What have you done about it?
