Read Genesis 1:1-2:4. What Ideas stick out to you? What sorts of ideas have you historically associated with this text?
Pastor Sam said that the gospel story is a formative story that can change our worldview. Recount the main points of the gospel story in your own words. Next to each point, write out how this part might affect your day to day understanding of the world.
Pastor Sam mentioned that many folk are used to hearing the gospel story abbreviated and beginning with the idea of Sin. Is this true for you? How might this beginning in the middle change the way one engages the gospel story?
God is good and he wants what is best for you. Interact with this statement. Do you see this played out in the Genesis text? How so? Do you believe this to be true in your relationship with God here and now? How might the truth of this statement affect your day to day life were you to fully embrace it?
On day 7 of creation, God rested with his creation. How does this image point to the ultimate end of creation in heaven? Can you think of any texts that seem to point to this future? How does considering this gospel future make you feel?
