Read all of Ruth 4. What Ideas stick out to you? What sorts of ideas have you historically associated with this text? What questions do you have?
Thinking about our time in the Book of Ruth as a whole, reflect on some of what God has told you. Write down some specifics you needed for your own faith journey.
Pastor Sam pointed out that one of the redeemers in the story remains nameless while we still talk about Boaz today. Consider this idea. The Redeemer was not obligated to carry out the redemption. Was this other relative in sin for refusing to take on Ruth? What made Boaz’s actions so exemplary?
Re-Read Exodus 34:5-7. If you just had this passage for reference how might you biblically define God’s faithful ‘hesed’ love? Can you think of specific examples of God’s hesed in your own faith journey?
Pastor Sam mentioned that Naomi is a more dynamic character than in Ruth in our story. Do you agree with this? What growth and changes do you see in Naomi’s character and story?
What was God telling you this week? What have you done about it?
