Why do you suppose Naomi was so quick to scheme to try and provide for her and Ruth? Do you sympathize with this tendency? Why do you suppose that is or isn’t?
Read Genesis 19 and the story of Lot’s daughters. Write down any parallels you see between this text and Ruth 3. What differences do you see between Lot’s daughters and Ruth?
Consider how this scene could have played out if either Ruth or Boaz had not been people of godly character. What role do Christian ethics play in your day to day faith?
Pastor Sam mentioned the idea of “let go and let God” as a Christian cliche with a tendency to push christians toward passivity. Have you ever seen this tendency in your own life? What would it look like to live your faith with a proactivity similar to Ruth?
