Read all of Matthew 18 In light of Sunday’s sermon, what are you drawn to in this section of scripture? What questions do you have?
If you were in Peter’s place asking this question of Jesus, how many times of forgiving the same offense would you think to be sufficient?
How do you reconcile Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness with the reality of personal safety presented by abusive situations?
Consider your own relationship with justice. Where in your life are you inclined to clutch to your ledger? Write down a few specific scenarios.
Read Luke 7:36-50. If you were to live with a present awareness of God’s forgiveness toward you, how might it affect the way you engaged your own wrongs and hurts day-to-day?
