Discussion Questions for 02/13/21
Read Acts 21:1-16 before engaging the questions below. Pray over this text. What ideas are sticking out to you? Why do you suppose that is?
Take a few minutes and google the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer (or watch this video). Now read Hebrews 11:1-12:2. What similarities do you see in Bonhoeffer’s story and the biblical ‘hall of faith’?
As Paul finishes out his third missionary journey we see him over and over finding life and welcome amongst the church. How does this make you consider your own experience of community within the church?
Paul hears of his coming suffering from both the church at Tyre and the prophet Agabus at Caesarea. How do you understand the spiritual gift of prophesy to work in the New Testament church? Do you suppose that it functions similarly today for the church? How might this sort of ministry actually take place in our local church? Or would it?
Paul was determined to obey Christ by coming to Jerusalem regardless of the consequences. What sort of things might change in your life if you radically said ‘yes’ to him every day regardless of what he asks of you? Genuinely reflect on this. Write down as many answers as you can.
What is the ‘yes’ God is asking of you right now? If you have trouble answering this question, what might help you have clarity on what your obedience to Christ can look like here and now?
