Read John 12:12-32 before engaging the questions below. What words, phrases, or ideas stick out to you? Why do you suppose that is?
What specific things do you need from God this Holy Week? How is your soul? Where do you need help right now?
The crowds at the triumphal entry wanted Jesus to be their political and military leader. They had the wrong expectation of Jesus and his work. Can you imagine some ways that people today simply seek the wrong work from Jesus? In what ways do we need to adjust our expectations of Jesus’ work on our behalf?
Read Philippians 2:5-9. Consider what all was actually involved in Jesus’ choice to shun the glories of this world and choose sacrifice and suffering. Write down some points. How does it make you feel to consider Jesus’ sacrifice on behalf of humanity?
What might you need to die to in the glories of this world in order to see fruit born in your life?
What was God telling you this week? What have you done about it?
