The Law
1. In Sunday’s sermon Pastor Jim spoke of how he loves epic movies such as Gladiator,
Braveheart &; Lord of The Rings. He also mentioned movies such as Sleeping Beauty,
Cinderella, Beauty and The Beast, and Hallmark movies.
Pick one of these movies and share with the group how you see it as a picture, in part,
of The Gospel Story.
2. In the Book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon wrote, concerning God, “You have set eternity in
the hearts of men.” What do you believe that means? Where should we be looking for
“Happily Ever After- in this life or the one to come? Explain.
3. The Gospel Story Review. Let’s connect the first 4 major elements of The Gospel Story
by speaking to what is most significant about each one. Start with Creation and work
your way down.

4. Read Galatians 3:1-6. What was the issue that upset Paul and led to him to ask so many
pointed questions? What is the significance of verse 6 and what it says about the
salvation of Old Testament believers.
5. Read Galatians 3:7-9. Why do you think so many people believe that salvation by grace
through faith sounds too simple? How would you answer them?
6. Read Jeremiah 31:31-32. In your own words tell us what the significance of Jeremiah’s
prophecy is for the Hebrew people before the Messiah came? What should they have
realized about the Law as it relates to salvation?
7. Read Galatians 3:10-13. According to Paul why are people under a curse and what does
being under a curse mean for their lives? According to verse 13 how is a person set
free from the curse?
8. Read Galatians 3:19. What does this verse reveal as to the purpose of the Law?
9. Read Matthew 5:17. Explain what the significance of Jesus’ words are for you and me.
10. What is the one thing that was most meaningful to you from this study?
