Discussion Questions

  1. Read all of Matthew 14 In light of Sunday’s sermon, what are you drawn to in this section of scripture? What questions do you have?

  2. Why do you think Herod’s feast is contrasted with Jesus’ feast? How many similarities and differences can you mark? What do they illuminate about Jesus to you?

  3. Consider your own neediness before Christ. This can be unpleasant, but list out some of the ways you regularly need Jesus’ intervention in your life. How does his care for you reflect the way you engage the needy people in your own life?

  4. Recall a time that you had to make an inconvenient or painful sacrifice for the sake of the Kingdom. How did you see Christ’s provision for you in that sacrifice?

  5. How open are you to acknowledging your own exhaustion and need for rest? How open are you to God interrupting that same rest for the sake of the kingdom?

  6. What was God telling you this week? What have you done about it?
